Card Swappin’ With Dave in St. Paul, Minnesota

Hello to all of my wonderful card making friends!  I hope you are ready to get inspired again to make some wonderful cards that will be appreciated for a long time.  What inspires you to sit down and make a card?  Is it a special birthday coming up for a friend or family member?  Is there a special occasion coming up and you want to give the special gift of a card?  All of us get inspired in so many different ways.

I know that for me I enjoy taking Sunday afternoons when I have time to sit in my crafting room to create cards.  Now that may mean that I go through my paper and embellishments to begin creating my cards.  Or it may mean that it is a time for me to sit down and think about a special person that could really use a pick-me-up and create them a card.  The most important part of this time I take for card making is that it is my “ME” time.  And we all need “ME” time!  I know that a lot of you are on the go and hardly have time to relax.  Make your card making time your “ME” time and I think you will see how inspired and creative you will become.

At the past few shows I have seen some amazing cards with such creativity.  A card that I thought was very cute was a card that had a play on the word “chicken.”  The card read “Just Chicken In On You.”  What a fun way to say “I hope you are doing OK”!  This would put a big smile in someone’s day.  See if you can come up with some saying using a play on words like “chicken.”  This turns card making into fun making!

At our recent show in St. Paul this adorable card made by Karen Just shows the cute “Just Chicken On You” sentiment.  (See, I knew it would make you smile!)  Did you notice how personalized this card really is since her last name is Just?  She is truly saying “I’m checking in on you.”  I just love these types of meaningful cards.

Lori Dorsey created this elegant card for a special birthday.  This card is going to make someone’s special day even brighter with all the love and care that went into making it. I like how the May stamp was included in the card for this special May birthday card.  Elements like this add that little extra “WOW” factor to the person receiving the card.

Now that you are inspired to make some cards, pick that special time and day just for your “ME” time.  There is not a gift more special to give yourself than making a hand made card for someone special.  When you make someone else happy, some of that joy cannot help but rub off on yourself!

Happy card making!

Dave

I truly believe all you put into making a more personalized card for someone means that you’re already a winner. You’ve taken the time to show someone how much you really care. AWESOME work! Thank you so very much for the idea/s.

    Hi Dave.
I just recently got this same chicken stamp set. I love it. And have made several cards. I have used some of them but with the regular greetings like, happy birthday etc. I like what you have done with the greeting. I now feel challenged to come up with some different greeting. Thanks for the inspiration.
