This beautiful card is such a great way to show love to that special mom in your life; whether it be a mom, daughter, granddaughter, or a special friend. Cards are such a easy way to bring some sunshine to a loved one’s day.

Wonderful Mother

This card was made using the fun images called Just Darling from Simon Says Stamp! Using Gansai Tambi watercolors and mixing together a red shade with some pearly white created this beautiful pink color. Adding a few sequins and some rhinestones really popped out the flower, giving it a little sparkle! I don’t want to forget to mention the cute binding with stitching down the side. Let’s go over to Lucy’s Cards to see more of Lucy’s wonderful projects.

Life Is Beautiful created by Kathy Roney

How better said than “Life is Beautiful.” Spring is my favorite time of the year and it is a time that I reflect on the beauty of the world and how wonderful life is. This card certainly popped out at me and I fell in love with it. I love the color combination in this card and the coloring is so outstanding.

Life Is Beautiful

Kathy used the Botanical Rose Bouquet set for the main image along with the Butterfly Medley stamp set, both from Heartfelt Creations. She colored them with colored pencils and mineral spirits. What a wonderful combination to match the frame with her colored image. She added her sentiment, a teal colored seam binding bow, and button to finish off her gorgeous card. Hello again, my crafty friends! I recently returned from a wonderful Scrapbook Expo show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I always get home feeling so motivated and inspired to start creating! With my enthusiasm today, I hope to share some wonderful projects that will get you inspired to take some time this week for you to create some fun projects.

Clock Face Chipboard Layout created by Kim Price

Today I want to share this exquisite layout featuring a large Blue Fern clock face chipboard piece, which made this layout so striking! Kim did some fussy cutting, painted her chipboard clock face, and added her layering technique to make this layout really pop! Her embellishments with her beautiful papers come together so well.

Clock Face Chipboard Layout

Kim added many beautiful flowers, giving this a lovely shabby chic look. This also gives the layout a fun girly look with some fabulous dimension. I’m inspired, aren’t you? Get out those special photos and begin your layout! Using chipboard is always a great way to get started.

Mom created by Cherry Nelson

When I discovered this beautiful card created by Cherry Nelson, I couldn’t help but think about my own mom. The scissors brought back memories of my mother as she was a hair dresser, along with being a beautiful seamstress. I took some time to reminisce about the fun things she would sew for me, and the haircuts in her beauty shop that I would often get. Oh, how I miss her and those memorable days!

Since Mother’s Day is just around the corner, what a treasured card to create for your mom, grandmother, or even a special friend who is a mom! Along with this adorable vintage card, you can take a few extra minutes and create a pillow box gift set.

Cherry used Carta Bella papers, along with a handmade flower made from a vintage hankie, and antique linen fabrics. This will be one of those gifts that will be treasured for years to come.

Ingenious Inking created by Barbara Anders

This beautiful mixed media canvas is a perfect way to experiment with all of the fun mediums, textures, colors, and embellishments. Let your creative mind go to work using all of your supplies, and enjoy all the different textures and patterns.

Ingenious Inking

For this outstanding project, Barbara started by using a 8 x 10 inch linen canvas. The taupe colored canvas gives a great color to start with for the background. Adding some gesso, stamping, and then her fabulous embellishments, Barbara created a masterpiece to display in her home. For her step-by-step instructions CLICK HERE. Remember that mixed media is forgiving; if you don’t like the way you put something on the canvas, just gesso over it and start over. Give this a try, you will have a lot of fun!  Mixed media could easily become your favorite way of crafting!

Vintage Floral Jewelry

Once again, giving mom a homemade gift will warm her heart and she will cherish it forever. This fun vintage floral necklace was made using Epoxy clays and molds. Don’t be intimidated – just give it a try; you are going to have so much fun making these. The molds are very easy to use.

Saturdays With LeAnn

Welcome back to another wonderful weekend! I hope this Saturday brings some time just for you to relax.

I have been asked quite often if my job is fun. I definitely have to say YES, YES, YES! I have the privilege of seeing many beautiful projects and bringing them to you. My hope is that this will be a way to give you some inspiration and ideas for your way of creating. It brings me great joy to see the beautiful items that you create and to watch how your creativity is a gift you give to others. In addition to sharing lovely projects on Weekly Scrapper, it is also very rewarding for me to teach at the Scrapbook Expo workshops and being with such wonderful people who love the world of crafting. I see so many talented, happy, kind, and giving people at our Scrapbook Expos. They amaze and inspire me!

Today my first inspiration in scrapbooking is this beautiful layout “Never Give Up” created by the talented Mona Pendleton. It is easy to preserve the happy moments, but sometimes hard to create a layout for the challenging moments of life. It is important to create for the difficult times as well as the happy. We can go back and ponder on how hard that time was and appreciate the strength we received going through it.

Never Give Up

Mona has such a gift for creating layouts. She started building this layout combining various Prima papers and Spellbinders dies. To create her layout she was inspired using the “Let’s Get Sketchy” sketch challenge. Sketches can be such a great way to start your inspiration. I love how she framed the photo and used a bit of red and blue to pop out some color. Be sure to visit Mona at Cupcakes Creations for more of her outstanding projects.

I love cards!  Whether they are simple or detailed, cards are so fun to make. They can be created by adding beautiful papers and embellishments, including sweet sentiments, and sharing the finished product with the special people in your life.

Hugs & Kisses

Today’s beautiful card was created by using “Once Upon A Springtime” collection from Graphic 45. Here Romy has fussy cut her flowers and layered them with pop up foam. This gives the card some character and dimension. Romy also added some pearl embellishments to the centers of her flowers, butterflies, and clock giving it a more elegant look. She used several different patterns of papers; layering them harmoniously combines everything together. Let’s pop on over to Scrapstuff & More so you can see more of Romy’s beautiful creations. You will be so inspired by her that you won’t want to leave her blog!

I was sitting today enjoying a bit of warm weather here in Utah, and knowing that spring is just around the corner brings us to Easter. It is hard to believe that we are coming upon that day so quickly! I want to share with you an adorable card that is perfect for Easter. This rubber stamp is from Crafter’s Companion Bebunni Floral “Sweet As A Rose.” Isn’t this image so adorable?

You're As Sweet As A Rose

Giovana did a beautiful job with her coloring technique using Spectrum Noir Markers. The elements work really well together. For full instructions and a list of supplies, jump on over to her blog Believe. Giovana Smith will share in full detail how she created this adorable card.

Making your house a home is all about the details you add to make it your own.  Whether you add a picture to your wall or a decoration on your shelf, adding the little things can make a big difference. Today I have a very inspiring way to add a little fresh vintage look to your home. This doily table runner is so unique and beautiful.  What a wonderful idea to use up your treasured doilies that were made by grandma, mom, or even a gift from a friend you cherish. I have many doilies that were my mom’s and I just can’t part with them. This idea is such a great way to display and enjoy each hand stitched doily created by my mother.

Doily Table Runner

If you love this doily table runner but don’t really have doilies hanging around, check out some thrift stores. You can pick these up there as well as garage sales and will spend very little on them. This stunning doily runner was created by Ashley Ann who was inspired by a photograph on Country Living Magazine. You can find more on Ashley Ann’s projects on her blog Under The Sycamore.  A big thank you to Ashley for creating this doily table runner and sharing her instructions.

Wow! This is too pretty to even begin to eat. What a perfect treat using fresh fruit, lemon cream, and a flaky pastry!  With just a few ingredients, you can create a beautiful yummy dessert that is quite easy to make. What a way to impress your friends and family.

Lemon-Cream-Puffs_Glorious Treats

Wouldn’t this be a gorgeous dessert to serve at a shower, Easter brunch, or even at a summer party? This is such a great way to express the taste of spring and summer! You will have a fun time making these. For the recipe and directions, let’s jump on over to Glorious Treats blog where Glory will walk you through how to make these yummy Lemon Cream Puffs with Fresh Fruit. Go ahead and be a show-off! It is easy with this deceptively easy cream puff recipe!

No matter what your talent is, spring is a great time to try a new technique or step of of your comfort zone. Think of it as a “creative stretch.”  Happy crafting!

Thanks for joining me today, and I will look forward for your return next Saturday – have a great week!

On a winter day what could be more fun then to go out and ice skate? This beautiful layout brings back so many wonderful childhood memories for me. Mona Pendleton really has an eye for detail. With her perfectly placed layers using flower blossoms, gears, and doilies, she really pulls this layout together so beautifully. Don’t you just love her textured background?

To add a little bit more detail she embellished her layout adding a fun pair of skates created with a Sizzix die. To give them the old rustic look she painted, distressed, and added laces to her skates. Be sure to visit Cupcakes Creations for more wonderful inspiration from Mona Pendleton.

Strawberry Margarita/Cupcake

Ready to give it a try?  Here is the recipe and ingredients for you.  Enjoy your baking time and especially enjoy your summer!

Thanks for stopping by!

For The Cupcakes:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 limes, zested and juiced
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons + ¼ cup tequila
For the frosting:
  • 1½ cups diced strawberries
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • Generous pinch of salt
  • 1½ cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into tablespoons, at room temperature
  • 3-4 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2-3 tablespoons tequila
  • Coarse salt, lime wedges and/or strawberry slices, for garnishing

Heat the oven to 325º and line two cupcake tins with liners. Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl and set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar together at medium-high speed for 3-4 minutes, or until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl as needed.

Combine the buttermilk, lime zest and juice, vanilla and 2 tablespoons of the tequila in a 2 cup measuring cup. With the mixer on low speed, alternately add the dry and wet ingredients in 2-3 batches, starting and ending with the flour. Mix until just incorporated.

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared tins. Bake for 18-24 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few crumbs and the top springs back when touched lightly. Cool the cupcakes in the tins for 5 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and brush the tops with the remaining ¼ cup tequila and cool completely before frosting.

To make the frosting, puree the strawberries in a food processor and set aside. Combine the egg whites, sugar and salt in the bowl of a stand mixer set over a small saucepan of simmering water. Whisk constantly by hand until the sugar has dissolved. Test by rubbing the mixture between your fingers; you shouldn’t feel any grittiness.

Attach the bowl to the stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment. Begin mixing on low speed and gradually increase to high and whip until stiff peaks form. Continue mixing until the mixture is completely cool (test by feeling the bottom of the bowl) and light, fluffy and glossy. This should take about 10 minutes but may take longer.

Replace the whisk attachment with the paddle attachment. Set the mixer to medium-low and add the butter, 2 tablespoons at a time, mixing well between each addition. Once all the butter has been incorporated, increase to medium speed and beat until fluffy. Gradually add the strawberry puree and lime juice and tequila, and mix to combine.

Frost cupcakes as desired and sprinkle with coarse salt. Garnish with lime wedges and/or strawberry slices, if desired.
